Introduction
Due to the different character mapping requirements, these applications who utilize extended character set (these characters which has a value greater than 127) often have problems running under a double-byte Windows system (Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese). Fonts, as a special kind of software, are no exception. Based on our research, this issue exists on all major barcode font products designed in western countries. In countries such as Japan, the price of the localized version is very comparatively high and they can not be used in other double-byte platforms.

After deep research into the Windows Kernel, our development engineers conceived a solution allowing our customers universally apply the barcode fonts on any language platforms, i.e. this double-byte version of the barcode fonts can be used not only under Japanese and Chinese systems, but also under any single-byte language systems. We have thoroughly tested the solution on single byte Windows platforms (English, French, Spanish etc.) as well as all major double byte platforms (Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese). With this set of the fonts you are able to write applications targeting the whole world.

Note that you do not need to worry about this issue if the fonts do not utilize extended character set. Most of our Fontware products do not need any modification to run on a double-byte platform. The following products, however, do need double-byte versions if you plan to run on a double-byte language system:

Morovia UPC/EAN/Bookland Fontware
If you need to working with these three symbologies in a double-byte environment, you need to purchase double-byte versions (also called Asian versions) of the product instead.

Changes
There are a couple of changes on top of the single-bye Fontware products. First, we added character mappings for each double-byte language so they still generate barcode other than garbage characters under a double-byte language system. To accommodate the mapping change, we augmented the Font Tools by adding several functions. You must use the new functions (dubbed as Asian functions) to get the results. Better than these local products targeting one specified Asian language, our products target all double-byte languages. They can run on all single-byte platforms too.
